The Minister in charge of relations with Parliament, the official spokesman for the government, Mustapha Baitas, said on Thursday that tax revenues are expected to reach 366 billion dirhams by 2026, compared to 199 billion recorded in 2020.
The Minister explained, in response to a question during a press conference following the government council meeting, that tax revenues increased by about 160 billion dirhams, which enabled the government to launch several projects, including the project to generalize social protection (41.5 billion dirhams for the year 2026), direct social support (29 billion dirhams), payment of subscription fees related to "AMO Solidarity" (9.5 billion dirhams), social dialogue (more than 47 billion dirhams in the coming year) and the housing support program (10 billion dirhams). The minister noted that public investment increased from 230 billion dirhams in 2021 to 380 billion dirhams in 2026, and approximately 107 billion dirhams were allocated between 2022 and 2025 to support the purchasing power of citizens, especially gas, sugar and flour, and to support some institutions such as the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water, and to raise the budget allocated to the health and education sectors (140 billion dirhams during 2026). Baitas considered that these reforms achieved the goals and recommendations of the National Conference on Taxation, and at the same time enabled very large financial margins that the government harnessed to implement these projects and major projects, and also to open the way to achieve tax justice.
