El Jadida and Berrechid, where hundreds of car rental agencies have opened, to the point that these agencies rival the density of local cafes and shops, all share the common characteristic that “all cars are rented.”
The return of the Moroccan community to the country through the airports has helped to double the rate of car rental, prompting agency owners to increase rental rates by adding variable amounts depending on the type and quality of the vehicle, starting from 100 dirhams per day as an additional charge.
According to some professionals, the price of an ordinary car like a Dacia, which did not exceed 200 dirhams per day in normal times, is currently 300 to 350 dirhams. As for an ordinary off-road vehicle, which cost 400 dirhams before the summer, it is now 700 to 800 dirhams per day, an increase of about one hundred percent.
