HIBAPRESS – Mohammed El Herouali
The Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, called in a post on his official X platform account for a positive interaction with the January 11th Youth Pact initiative, considering it a national initiative aimed at empowering youth to make their voices heard and contribute effectively to shaping today's choices and building the future of Morocco.
Mazzouz affirmed that betting on youth is no longer a secondary option but a necessity linked to the renewal of elites and the strengthening of citizen participation. He emphasized that involving this group in public discussion falls within the logic of listening and heeding the expectations of the new generation. The government official stressed that initiatives directed towards youth must go beyond symbolic nature and open the field to genuine participation in the development of public policies and programs, reflecting the social and economic transformations that Morocco is witnessing. This call comes in the context of an ongoing national discussion about the roles of youth in development and how to integrate them into decision-making centers, especially in light of the challenges related to employment, education, digital transformation, and strengthening confidence in institutions. Observers considered that the discourse of involving youth is strongly present in the official discourse, but the challenge remains at the level of practical implementation and linking initiatives to clear mechanisms that ensure effective and influential participation of this group in shaping the features of the Morocco of tomorrow.
