The Tamchacht area, belonging to the Tamedit commune in the Taounate province, witnessed significant snowfall in recent days due to its geographical elevation, leading to a temporary disruption in traffic on some road sections.
In this context, and under direct instructions from the Governor of Taounate Province, Mr. Abdelkrim El Ghanam, the Regional Vigilance Committee mobilized human resources, machinery, and logistical means belonging to the Regional Directorate of Equipment, Transport, and Logistics in Taounate this Sunday morning, January 18, 2026, to urgently intervene to remove the snow. This intervention included regional road number 5337, connecting regional road number 510 (Tahar Souk), at the level of the Tamchacht area in the Tamedit commune, towards the border with Al Hoceima province, from kilometer point 23 to kilometer point 26. This operation was carried out in close coordination with local authorities and elements of the Royal Gendarmerie, resulting in the opening of the road to traffic and ensuring its smooth flow naturally, for the benefit of users of this road axis, as well as the neighboring population, with the aim of breaking their isolation and enabling them to obtain essential materials and continue their daily activities under normal conditions. These interventions are part of the implementation of the regional plan to mitigate the effects of the cold wave, climate fluctuations, and bad weather, which is being overseen by the Regional Vigilance Committee, in line with the high royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, and in implementation of the circular of the Minister of Interior regarding the activation of the comprehensive national plan to reduce the repercussions of the cold wave and climate change on the population, especially in mountainous and isolated areas.
