The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, held discussions today, Monday, in Rabat with a delegation from the US Congress, which is on a working visit to the Kingdom as part of exploring ways to strengthen strategic relations between Morocco and the United States of America, which are overseen by the leaders of both countries, King Mohammed VI and US President Donald Trump.
At the beginning of the meeting, Aziz Akhannouch reviewed the reform projects and pioneering initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty the King, praising the United States' supportive and steadfast position on the autonomy initiative within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty over the southern provinces. The meeting was an opportunity for both parties to value the upward trend in the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries, noting that Morocco can play a role as a link for American investments in the region, within the framework of a win-win partnership. The historical and deep-rooted relations between the two friendly countries were also recalled during this meeting, since the signing in 1787 of the Moroccan-American Treaty of Peace and Friendship, which is the oldest document signed by the United States with a foreign country.
