HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyawi
The Sidi Kamel community in Sidi Kacem province experienced a state of preventive alert on Tuesday, following the start of the local authorities and various concerned services in equipping spaces dedicated to temporary shelter inside the Massoud Chiker secondary school, as part of preparations to face any potential repercussions of weather fluctuations and the rise in the level of valleys in the Gharb region.
This step comes within the context of activating a proactive plan aimed at ensuring the safety of the population and managing the risks associated with heavy rainfall, by providing a ready-made reception infrastructure for rapid intervention in case circumstances require the transfer of residents from threatened areas. According to local sources, equipped tents have been set up and the necessary logistical resources have been mobilized, with continuous field coordination being adopted between the territorial authorities, alert committees and other stakeholders, allowing for an immediate response to any potential developments. Observers believe that this intervention reflects a shift in the risk management methodology, based on prevention instead of waiting, especially in light of previous experiences that have shown the importance of early intervention in reducing human and material losses. In parallel, the competent authorities continue awareness campaigns for the benefit of the population, through which they call for caution, adherence to the authorities' instructions, and avoiding approaching the streams of valleys and low-lying areas, while following the official weather bulletins until the situation stabilizes.
