Following the "Facebook revolution" that erupted on social media against the "yellow vest holders" in many Moroccan cities, and the subsequent reactions from citizens who fell victim to assaults and illegal practices by some intruders and those encroaching on public property by occupying car parks and forcing their owners to pay a parking fee, a situation that has become almost generalized in most of our cities and streets, despite the elected councils of these cities not benefiting from the revenues of these parking spaces, except for complaints and grievances.
In this context, the municipality of the city of Settat had another opinion, after confirming that the car, motorcycle, and truck parking stations within the territory of the municipality of Settat are not leased to any party starting from Sunday, February 1, 2026, and that any collection in this regard is considered illegal and has no relation to the municipality, pending the completion of the related legal procedures for re-leasing this facility. However, the reality here in the streets of the city of Settat proves the opposite, as car owners and other vehicles find it very difficult to avoid those who are now carrying whistles and vests, some of whom use the method of thuggery and intimidation, within irresponsible behaviors, which requires urgent intervention to regulate the sector and strike with an iron fist against these people, noting that the responsibility for managing this sector lies with the municipalities as the legal authority.
