HIBAPRESS – A. Mahyaoui
The city of Kenitra has been witnessing continuous field mobilization for days, led by regional and local authorities to address the repercussions of the recent floods. The number of families that have been sheltered so far in the temporary shelter camp set up at the Equestrian Club space has reached 167 families, comprising approximately 701 people, with a continuous influx of additional families coming from a number of affected villages.
This intervention comes within the context of implementing the instructions issued by the governor of Kenitra province, which aim to ensure temporary shelter that respects safety and human dignity conditions, and guarantees the protection of affected families from the effects of weather fluctuations that the region has witnessed recently. The Equestrian Club camp has witnessed an actual involvement of various stakeholders, from local authorities, security services, elements of the Royal Army, and agents of authority, in addition to the Moroccan Red Crescent, within the framework of a strict coordination that contributed to accelerating the pace of preparing tents, organizing the camp space, and securing its surroundings, with the provision of the necessary support for the arriving families, especially vulnerable groups. In this context, the competent authorities in the third administrative annex have begun precise census operations for families coming from the villages of Bghailia, Oulad Belkhir, and Kfifat, belonging to the municipality of M'Karn, with the aim of ensuring an organized and fair distribution of tents, and respecting the standards adopted in managing temporary shelter spaces. The affected families were gradually received inside the camp, where a number of them were transported by trucks belonging to the Royal Army, before being directed to the tents allocated to them according to an approach that takes into account social and health situations, especially children, women, and the elderly. Some families, in coordination with the local authorities, also participated in the process of setting up their tents themselves, especially during the evening, in a step that reflected the spirit of cooperation and responsibility, and contributed to accelerating the shelter process, under the supervision and organization that ensures the good management of the camp space. In parallel with this, the security presence has been strengthened to secure the camp and organize the movement of entry and exit, in addition to the intervention of the Moroccan Red Crescent teams to provide first aid and humanitarian support, within the framework of a comprehensive solidarity approach. The regional authorities confirm that the shelter process is ongoing, and that the Equestrian Club camp is moving steadily towards full readiness, with the programming of receiving additional families in the coming hours, ensuring an effective and field response to the needs of the affected until this exceptional stage is overcome.
