HIBAPRESS
The managing offices of both Al-Machreq Sports Club and Al-Mawaheb Sports Club in the city of Guercif have sent an official letter to the governor of the province, in which they demand urgent intervention to reconsider the method of distributing support allocated to associations and sports clubs in the city.
The two associations explained, in a joint letter, that the support distribution process was marred by, in their words, "clear imbalances" and did not respect the principles of fairness and equality between the clubs, which led to a large disparity in the amounts granted, and negatively affected the normal progress of the sports season. According to a statement obtained by HIBAPRESS, Al-Machreq Sports Club received 10,000 dirhams, while Al-Mawaheb Sports Club benefited from 15,000 dirhams, while larger amounts were given to other associations, although some of them – according to the same source – do not practice a free competitive activity, nor do they meet the same conditions that other clubs adhere to. The two associations pointed out that this disparity in support is directly reflected in the continuity of sports activities for the benefit of children and youth in the city, especially in light of the costs associated with equipment, travel inside and outside the province, and the purchase of basic sports equipment. The two sports bodies demanded that the governor of the province intervene to reassess the support distribution mechanisms according to clear and transparent standards, ensuring equal opportunities between the various clubs, while ensuring the continuity of their participation in the current sports season. The two associations affirmed at the conclusion of their letter their keenness to cooperate with the local authorities, and on the importance of providing fair support that contributes to the development of sports and encouraging young people to practice sports in equal conditions.
