HIBAPRESS – Mohammed Tahraoui
Work on the construction of a new housing project began about three days ago in the Akyoud neighborhood, which belongs to the Gueliz district of Marrakech, with the aim of resettling families residing in Derb Zmerani, known as "Al-Howita," within the framework of the program to eliminate inadequate housing.
This project is being implemented under the supervision of the Al Omrane Foundation in coordination with the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region and the cooperation of the Municipal Council of Marrakech. The estimated duration of its completion is about 20 months, according to the available official data. According to the data, the project will be built on the property that housed playgrounds near Ibn Attia Al-Marrakchi school and in the Akyoud neighborhood and Al-Nour neighborhood. This property was originally a public garden before it was converted into playgrounds after being paved with asphalt. The number of families concerned with resettlement from "Al-Howita" is estimated at about 300 families, a process that falls within the programs to combat tin-roof houses and improve the living conditions of vulnerable residents. The city of Marrakech is witnessing a large-scale census of informal housing and inadequate housing within the framework of an approach to provide solutions that suit the development that the city is experiencing.
