HIBAPRESS – Casablanca
The controversy in Berrechid continues regarding a mosque that has been under construction for more than fifteen years in the Sidi Omar area, specifically on the road leading to the city of Deroua via the national road.
This religious project, which was supposed to strengthen the spiritual infrastructure in the region, had its work stopped more than a decade ago, leaving the building standing without opening its doors to worshippers, in a scene that amazes the residents and road users alike.
The tongues of the residents circulate different narratives about the reasons for the project's halt, some attributing the matter to financial constraints, some talking about administrative or legal complications that prevented its completion, and others talking about family disputes of the party that undertook the construction of the mosque and donated its plot of land.
However, it is established, according to a number of local actors, that the major works were completed years ago, and only some repairs and final touches remained, which would make the mosque ready to receive worshippers.
In light of this situation, increasing demands have emerged calling on the governor of Berrechid province to urgently intervene to find a solution to this problem, accelerate the pace of finishing the remaining works, and open the mosque to the residents.
The residents of Berrechid, especially the Sidi Omar area, and the nights, and the beautiful view, and Birkour and the subdivisions close to the mosque hope that this file will be closed as soon as possible, so that the project does not remain a model of a long-delayed failure without clear justifications.
