The Marrakech Court of Appeal celebrated National Road Safety Day by organizing a regional scientific conference entitled "Road Safety: Preventive and Judicial Treatment" on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in the presence of judicial officials and representatives of concerned security and civil institutions.
The proceedings of this conference opened with a speech by the First President of the Court of Appeal in Marrakech, Mr. Mustafa Ait Al-Halawi, and the Attorney General, Mr. Khalid Al-Kardoudi, on the need to adopt a participatory and integrated approach to reduce traffic accidents. The speakers emphasized the pivotal role of the judiciary in instilling a culture of respecting traffic laws and promoting the principles of prevention and deterrence. The conference witnessed a significant presence of representatives from law enforcement agencies, civil defense, a representative of the Marrakech Bar Association, representatives of the local scientific council, the regional academy for education and training of the Marrakech-Safi region, the regional directorate of the National Road Safety Agency, the Notary Public Authority, along with a number of actors and those interested in the field. The conference proceedings addressed two main themes: preventive treatment in the field of road traffic and judicial treatment of traffic accidents. Scientific interventions were presented that focused on ways to enhance prevention and strengthen coordination between various stakeholders, in addition to discussing the legal aspects related to punishing violations and protecting road users. At the end of the conference, the floor was opened for discussion among the attendees, which allowed for a fruitful exchange of views on mechanisms for developing preventive work and reducing accidents. These discussions resulted in the formulation of a set of practical recommendations aimed at strengthening institutional coordination, intensifying awareness campaigns, and supporting judicial efforts aimed at instilling a culture of road safety.
