The Saudi air defense successfully intercepted hostile aerial attacks, after the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Turki Al-Maliki, announced the interception and destruction of five drones near Prince Sultan Air Base, in an operation that confirmed the high readiness of the defense systems.
The same official explained that the Ministry of Defense had previously announced earlier today the interception of two drones that attempted to target the Ras Tanura refinery, stressing that the interception operation was carried out efficiently and without any injuries among civilians.
Al-Maliki pointed out that the interception of the drones led to the fall of shrapnel near some civilian sites, which caused a limited fire inside the refinery, which was quickly controlled by emergency teams, without recording any human casualties.
In the same context, an official source in the Saudi Ministry of Energy stated that the Ras Tanura refinery was slightly damaged as a result of the fall of shrapnel resulting from the interception operation, which necessitated the precautionary shutdown of some operational units, while emphasizing that the supply of petrol and its derivatives to local markets was not affected.
This development reflects the continuation of the security challenges facing vital facilities in the region, in exchange for the Saudi authorities' confirmation of the readiness of their defense systems and their ability to protect strategic infrastructure and ensure the safety of civilians.
