Qatar announced on Thursday that it is evacuating residents living near the US embassy in the capital, Doha, after Iranian strikes targeted the Gulf state as part of Tehran's response to American-Israeli attacks.
Explosions were heard in Doha on Tuesday, as Iran bombed targets throughout the region. On the same day, an Iranian ballistic missile hit the US military base at Al-Udeid, 40 kilometers southwest of Doha, according to the Qatari Ministry of Defense. Qatar had previously announced that it had thwarted attacks on Hamad International Airport. The Qatari Ministry of Interior published a statement on the X platform stating that "the competent authorities are evacuating residents living near the US embassy as a temporary precautionary measure," indicating that alternative housing is being secured for them. The ministry had earlier urged citizens to stay inside their homes and buildings and to avoid going out unless necessary.
