Mohamed Manfalouti – HIBAPRESS
The decision to license an exhibition to sell products in the Kasbah Ismaili square in front of the Sidi Lghalimi Mosque in Settat sparked a wide debate on social media, especially after news of loud music coming from the place made visitors to this mosque express their rejection of the use of this space for displaying and marketing products in exhibitions.
Regarding this matter, HIBAPRESS contacted the head of the municipal council of the city of Settat, "Nadia Faddoumi," who said that, as part of the policy of generating revenues for the council's budget, she and her council had granted a license for this exhibition, which will expire at the end of March, a decision taken based on the recommendations of a security committee after evaluating the situation, taking into account the sanctity of the mosque as a religious space. The head of the municipal council added that the contents of the terms of reference oblige exhibitors to respect the sanctity of the place and the feelings of the citizens during their prayers and even during Taraweeh prayers, without causing noise or music. The head of the municipal council indicated that she had interacted with the issue, and visited the place with the city's Pasha to assess the situation and remind the exhibitors of their legal obligations and urge them to respect the place, considering that her visit was a final warning to those concerned.
