HIBAPRESS – Fikri Ouldali
Work continues, at an accelerated pace, on opening regional road number 509, known as the "Unity Road," which connects the cities and communities of Issaguen, Ketama, and Taounate. This is part of efforts to break isolation and improve transportation conditions following the recent disturbances in the region due to rainfall.
According to available data, the work teams and equipment belonging to the competent authorities continue their field interventions to remove soil and stones caused by erosion and partial landslides, especially in the mountainous sections that experience significant geological fragility, while taking the necessary preventive measures to ensure the safety of road users.
Regional road number 509 is of great strategic importance, as it is a vital artery that connects a number of rural communities with urban centers, and contributes to facilitating the movement of the population, ensuring the supply of local markets, in addition to its economic and social role in connecting the Al Hoceima province with the Taounate province.
In this context, the residents of the affected areas have expressed their satisfaction with the resumption of work, while at the same time demanding that its pace be accelerated and that sustainable maintenance of the road be ensured, to avoid the repetition of interruptions that cause daily suffering for students, patients, and road users.
It is expected that the road opening process will be completed as soon as possible, provided that weather conditions improve, with continued vigilance and field monitoring by the regional authorities and the competent technical services, in order to restore normal movement and ensure the safety of citizens.
This intervention emphasizes the importance of investing in road infrastructure in mountainous areas, and the need to adopt sustainable technical solutions that keep pace with the specific characteristics of the area, in order to reduce the impact of climate fluctuations and enhance local development in the region.
