US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that the next Iranian leader must have his approval "or he won't last long."
Trump told ABC News: "He will need our approval. If he doesn't get it, he won't last long. We want to make sure we don't have to go back every ten years, without a president like me who doesn't do that." He added: "I don't want people to have to go back after five years and repeat the same thing, or worse, allow them to have a nuclear weapon." When asked if he would approve of someone with ties to the previous regime, Trump replied: "Yes, I will approve, to choose a good leader. There are many qualified people." Trump also pointed out that Iran was planning to control the entire Middle East, and alluded that he prevented it from doing so. He said: "They are just a paper tiger. They weren't a week ago, believe me. They were about to attack. Their plan was to attack the entire Middle East and take full control of it." The US President did not rule out sending special forces to seize Iranian enriched uranium, saying: "Everything is on the table. Everything." A senior official in the Trump administration told reporters last week that Iran had enriched enough uranium to reach weapons-grade materials in 10 days or less. (Sky News)
