HIBAPRESS – Ahmed Al-Musaed
The city of Oujda, specifically the International Mediterranean Private Hospital (HPIM), witnessed the success of a precise and complex medical operation, which was the implantation of an aortic valve for a 90-year-old patient, using advanced catheter technology, without the need for traditional surgical intervention.
The patient's son recounts the details of the health crisis that befell his father, where he suffered a severe heart attack that led to a sudden loss of consciousness. After being transferred to the hospital and undergoing the necessary tests, it was found that there was a blockage in one of the heart valves, which necessitated urgent intervention to replace it. Due to the patient's advanced age (90 years), traditional surgery (open heart) posed a great danger to his life, which prompted the medical team to make the decision to perform the operation via catheter, which is a less invasive and safer technique for such cases. In this regard, Dr. Jawad Muhammad Hussein, the hospital director, explained that this operation is the first of its kind in the private sector in the Eastern Region, and he confirmed that the aortic valve implantation was carried out successfully thanks to the combined efforts of an integrated medical team that includes heart and vascular surgeons, cardiac catheterization doctors, resuscitation and anesthesia doctors, and a specialized nursing and technical staff. The technique, the doctor adds, is characterized by the fact that it does not require opening the chest, which reduces the recovery period and the risks associated with major operations, which made it the ideal choice for this elderly person. The patient and his son also expressed their deep gratitude to the medical staff, praising the level of health care and continuous monitoring that the patient received around the clock. The patient said, "I thank these people for their good treatment, I had the operation and I am now in good condition," and the patient's son also confirmed that the human and professional treatment inside the hospital made him feel as if he was in his home, which contributed to raising the morale of the father and the speed of his recovery. This success comes within the framework of the strategy of the hospital (HPIM) in Oujda, which aims to develop medical services in the Oriental Region and provide the latest equipment and international technologies, to enable patients in the region to obtain advanced treatment without the need to travel to other cities.
