Following the decision issued by the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football regarding the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Senegal has issued an appeal to members of the Moroccan community there, calling on them to remain calm and attentive at this stage.
The embassy affirmed, in a statement, that sporting competitions should remain a factor of rapprochement between peoples, not a reason to provoke tension or fuel aggressive rhetoric, especially in light of the historical relations and strong human ties that unite Morocco and Senegal. It also clarified that the competent authorities in both countries are following developments related to the matter. This move came in the context of the widespread interaction on social media platforms following the decision, where the embassy stressed the need for Moroccan citizens to adhere to responsible behavior, whether in public spaces or through digital media, with respect for local laws and the adoption of a balanced discourse. In the same context, the embassy expressed its gratitude to the Senegalese authorities for their care for the Moroccan community and the protection of their property since the final match, considering this a reflection of the spirit of hospitality that characterizes the Senegalese people. The statement concluded with a clear call to contribute to calming the atmosphere and preserving the strength of bilateral relations, while expressing confidence in the awareness of members of the Moroccan community and their commitment to the values of coexistence.
