A 15-year-old boy stole a public transport bus in the German city of Wiesbaden and drove it approximately 130 kilometers to Karlsruhe to take his girlfriend to her school there, according to the German newspaper "Die Welt".
The German police stated that the teenager stole the bus at dawn on Friday, March 13, 2026, from the headquarters of a transport company, and that he opened it without using force and started it using a master key. A spokeswoman for the German police, citing the "Die Welt" newspaper, said: "We do not yet know how he got the key or why he was able to drive the bus with such skill." The reason for taking his 14-year-old girlfriend to school in this unusual and unauthorized way is not yet clear." The disappearance of the bus – which was fueled overnight – was noticed around six in the morning. The spokeswoman added: "There was an assumption at first that the bus driver was driving the wrong bus, so the incident was not reported to the police until noon." A police patrol noticed the bus in the German city of Karlsruhe at noon. The teenager, who took his girlfriend to school, faces charges of theft and driving without a license. The police released him and handed him over to his guardians. The bus was not damaged.
