The residents of the Douar of N'Zala R'Rdaya in the city of Meknes are witnessing a state of increasing resentment and dissatisfaction, due to what they described as the deterioration of environmental and social conditions in the region, in the absence of effective intervention from the concerned authorities.
A number of residents confirmed, in identical statements, that the problem of waste accumulation has become a concern for their daily lives, as some points have turned into random dumps from which foul odors emanate, and form a fertile environment for the spread of insects, which threatens the health of the residents, especially children and the elderly.
The affected people added that the situation is becoming more complex with what they considered "the Municipal Council's failure to cover", in reference to the lack of interaction with repeated complaints, and the failure to take concrete measures to address this long-standing environmental problem.
In a related context, a number of houses in the Douar suffer from the lack of connection to the electricity grid, which increases the suffering of families, especially during the night, and negatively affects living and study conditions for children.
The residents demanded the need for urgent intervention from the local authorities and the Municipal Council, in order to remove the harm, by organizing regular campaigns to collect waste, and working to generalize the connection to electricity, in a way that guarantees a decent life and responds to the most basic fundamental rights of citizens.
Observers believe that these conditions require an urgent approach and coordination between the various stakeholders, to remedy the situation and improve the quality of life, especially in marginalized areas that still suffer from a lack of basic services.
