HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
Rima Hassan, a Member of the European Parliament for the "France Unbowed" party, was taken into custody today, Thursday, April 2, on suspicion of involvement in a case related to "incitement to terrorism," according to French media reports.
According to the same sources, the arrest of the friend of the Algerian regime and supporter of the separatist thesis came after she was summoned as part of an investigation opened following her posting of a tweet on March 26, which she later deleted.
The tweet included references to Kozo Okamoto, who was previously convicted in the 1972 Lod Airport attack in Israel.
In a related context, the same sources reported that during the detention of the person in question, a small amount of synthetic drugs was found in her possession, which led to the opening of a second judicial investigation into the possession of prohibited substances.
French MP Matthias Renou initiated, on March 27, informing the Public Prosecutor's Office in Paris, represented by the prosecutor Laure Beccu, considering that the content of the tweet may fall under actions punishable by criminal law, within the framework of activating the legal provisions related to reporting crimes.
This case falls within the context of the French authorities' tightening of monitoring of the discourse related to terrorism, especially through social media, in light of the increasing political and security tensions both domestically and internationally.
