This Saturday morning, Ait Ourir witnessed the opening of the new proximity hospital, a step aimed at strengthening the health infrastructure in Al Haouz province and bringing medical services closer to the local population and neighboring areas, in line with efforts to improve access to treatment and reduce spatial disparities.
The inauguration of this health facility took place in the presence of Aziz Akhannouch, the Head of Government, Amin Tahraoui, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, and Mostafa El Maaiza, the Governor of Al Haouz province, along with Ahmed Touizi, the parliamentarian and head of the Ait Ourir community, parliamentarian Said El Kourch, advisor and Hamza Edmoussa, the head of the Al Haouz Provincial Council, and parliamentarian Jawad El Hilali, and a number of officials and elected representatives. This project comes within the framework of expanding the health offer in the province, especially for the benefit of residents who often had to travel to Marrakech to benefit from medical and hospital services, where the new hospital is expected to contribute to bringing these services closer and alleviating the suffering of patients. According to the data provided, the total cost of building the hospital amounted to about 85 million dirhams, of which 60 million dirhams were allocated for studies and works, and 25 million dirhams for medical and biomedical equipment. The project extends over a total area of approximately 30,000 square meters, while the covered area is approximately 4,400 square meters. The hospital has a capacity of up to 45 beds, with its services benefiting approximately 278,000 people from the population of Ait Ourir and a number of neighboring communities in Al Haouz province. It also includes several essential departments, including an emergency department, a maternal and child health department, hospitalization units, a surgical complex, a radiology department, and a medical analysis laboratory, in addition to spaces for outpatient examinations. This facility is expected to employ about 117 employees from various specializations, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff, to ensure the provision of integrated health services. This project is betting on relieving pressure on health institutions in the city of Marrakech, improving the quality of services provided to the population of the region, in addition to supporting the path of reforming the health system and enhancing spatial justice in access to treatment.
