HIBAPRESS – A. Muhyawi
In a step that reflects a new dynamic in the process of rehabilitating the urban area in the city of Meknes, the signing of a new partnership agreement was announced with a total financial envelope of approximately 14 billion centimes, aimed at rehabilitating a number of residential neighborhoods and improving the quality of life there.
This agreement falls within the continuous efforts made by the Ministry of National Territorial Development, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, under the supervision of Fatema Zahra Al-Mansouri, in order to implement urban development programs and enhance spatial justice, especially in cities facing increasing urban challenges.
The cost of this agreement is distributed between the contribution of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning with a value of 10 billion centimes, and the municipality of Meknes, which will contribute 4 billion centimes, where these funds will be allocated to the preparation of roads and sidewalks and the improvement of infrastructure in a number of residential neighborhoods.
This project has received support and field follow-up from the governor of Meknes, Abdelghani Essabbar, who praises his role in driving the local development wheel, through coordination between various stakeholders and accelerating the pace of implementation of social and structural projects.
Governor Abdelghani Essabbar is known as a statesman, who enjoys widespread appreciation within the Ministry of Interior, due to his high competence and field experience that he has accumulated through his administrative career. He is also considered among the territorial frameworks that enjoy great confidence, as he is seen as one of the faces that effectively contribute to the implementation of royal directives on the ground.
This program targets a group of residential neighborhoods that have suffered for years from a lack of infrastructure and basic services, where it is expected that the works will include the preparation of roads, the rehabilitation of sidewalks, and the improvement of the aesthetics of urban spaces, in order to ensure better living conditions for the population.
It is worth noting that this agreement is the second of its kind, after a previous agreement that was signed during the period of the minister Nabil Benabdallah, which concerned the rehabilitation of 32 residential neighborhoods, with a financial envelope of 23 billion centimes funded by the Ministry.
This announcement has been widely welcomed in the ranks of the population of Meknes, who expressed their satisfaction with these continuous initiatives, considering them an important step towards reducing spatial disparities and achieving balanced urban development.
Observers believe that this development dynamic reflects the synergy of the efforts of various actors, and enhances the position of Meknes as one of the Moroccan cities that is witnessing a gradual transformation at the level of infrastructure and services, with a view to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development that meets the aspirations of the population.
