Olympique Safi bid farewell to the CAF Confederation Cup from the semi-final round, following a draw against USM Alger with a score of (1-1) in the second leg match hosted at the Al Massira Stadium.
Prior to the starting whistle, there was a tense atmosphere and a state of chaos, after some individuals affiliated with the Algerian team's fans stormed the pitch, causing acts of vandalism and material losses, including the destruction of a number of chairs, in addition to the injury of a journalist to the head, which cast a shadow over the general course of the match. Contrary to the flow of play, the Algerian team finished the first half ahead in the score, after getting a penalty following a review of the video technology, which was successfully executed by player Ahmed Khaldi in the fourth minute of stoppage time (45+4). During the second half, Olympique Safi increased the pace of its offensive pressure in search of equalizing the score, and succeeded in doing so in the 75th minute by player Moussa Koné, igniting the stands and restoring hope for the Safi fans, but this goal was not enough to reverse the balance of qualification. The match ended in a draw (1-1), a result that granted USM Alger the pass, benefiting from the away goal rule, after the first leg match had ended in a goalless draw (0-0). With this qualification, USM Alger sets a date in the final with Zamalek of Egypt, in an anticipated match that will be played on a home and away basis, pending the official announcement of its dates.
