An alarming incident occurred on Anza beach in Agadir on the evening of Thursday, October 8, when a child approximately 10 years old was attacked by a group of stray dogs, who mauled his body. Several citizens intervened to save him, in an incident that brought back to the forefront the growing fears regarding the spread of these animals and their threat to the safety of citizens.
This incident comes after a citizen died last week from injuries sustained from stray dog bites, while citizens are repeatedly flocking to the specialized health department in Agadir to receive first aid and vaccinations after similar attacks.
In light of the recurrence of these incidents, demands are rising for urgent intervention from the concerned authorities, foremost among them the Agadir commune, to put an end to the spread of stray dogs and take effective measures to protect residents, especially children and beachgoers.
This situation also raises questions about the effectiveness of the measures currently adopted, and whether it will necessitate escalating demands through protests in front of the commune's headquarters to pressure for addressing this issue, which has become a cause of distress for a number of citizens.
