Royal Gendarmerie elements at the Cap El Badouza center, in the early hours of Sunday morning, in coordination with the Regional Command of the Gendarmerie in Safi, managed to foil an attempt to smuggle tons of hashish on Karam Al-Dayf beach, in the Ayir commune.
The operation, according to the newspaper's sources, took place after the Royal Gendarmerie elements received precise information related to an attempt to carry out an international drug smuggling operation. A special security team from the Royal Gendarmerie was deployed, which succeeded in foiling the attempt and apprehending one of the suspects.
The same sources added that the smugglers burned the drugs before being surprised by the Royal Gendarmerie elements. Approximately one and a half tons of hashish were seized, in addition to a zodiac boat and an engine.
The suspect was taken to the Royal Gendarmerie headquarters for further investigation and to identify the other individuals involved in this criminal activity, and he was placed under judicial custody before being presented to the Public Prosecution.
