Mohamed Manfalouti – HIBAPRESS
The phenomenon of "Bouara" has spread in the city of Settat. These individuals roam most of the alleys and neighborhoods of the city, day and night, accompanied by their carts and dogs. They scatter garbage after tearing plastic bags in search of what they are looking for, increasing the suffering of sanitation workers and waste transport trucks. Meanwhile, unknown individuals tamper with containers, break them, and even go as far as to burn them in a blatant act that reflects the aggressive nature of the perpetrator.
The phenomenon of widespread garbage in most alleys and neighborhoods, a part of the responsibility still lies with the citizens. This requires adherence to the scheduled times of waste trucks and not throwing waste in the public street so as not to burden our fellow workers who are looking for a livelihood through hard work.
Other disturbing scenes contribute to the spread of waste and garbage and the tearing of plastic bags. These relate to what is commonly called "Bouara," who resort to garbage bins and plastic bags placed on the sides of streets and alleys to tear them open and search for leftover vegetable and fruit peels… to use as feed for their livestock. Some get lost amidst the heaps, engrossed in opening plastic bags, hoping to find what they are looking for, perhaps to relieve them relatively from begging, searching for leftover metal utensils, empty bottles, and others in order to sell them.
This is a disturbing phenomenon that requires the concerned company to intensify its patrols at various points and urge its workers who have means of transport to conduct tours to curb the phenomenon of damaging containers and sometimes stealing them.
