Fouzi Lagqaa, Minister of Economy, Finance and Public Administration Reform, criticized what he described as the populism of some politicians in their handling of issues related to government work, considering that this approach did not achieve results with previous governments and will not be effective with future governments.
Lagqaa stressed that the evaluation of the government's performance and the fulfillment of its commitments should be based on actual data, numbers, and decisions taken, instead of relying on what he described as populist rhetoric, which may affect citizens' understanding of the reality and content of public policies.
The minister added that the political discussion about government promises should be based on a careful reading of the programs and projects presented, pointing out that making premature judgments about the government reneging on its commitments, before reviewing the details and official data, does not contribute to an objective discussion about the government's achievements.
Lagqaa's statements came during the joint plenary session held by the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors, in accordance with the provisions of Article 68 of the Constitution, on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the headquarters of the House of Representatives, which was dedicated to the presentation of the draft finance law for the fiscal year 2027 by the Minister of Economy, Finance and Public Administration Reform.
