A 14-year-old Moroccan minor has died from injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident while returning from a football training session in the province of Bergamo, northern Italy.
According to initial information, the incident occurred on regional road number 498, between Ghisalba and Martinengo, amidst heavy rainfall and poor lighting, after he was struck by a car driven by a 38-year-old man.
The victim was transported to the "Papa Giovanni XXIII" hospital in Bergamo, where he underwent intensive care before succumbing to his wounds.
Italian Carabinieri are continuing their investigations to determine the circumstances of the accident, while the club where he played football expressed its sorrow over the death of its young player, offering its condolences to his family and loved ones.
