HIBAPRESS – Follow-up
The city of Tangier witnessed at the end of last week the arrest of the TikToker known as "Moulinx" and his detention in prison on the basis of serious charges related to the publication of content considered to be offensive to public decency via social media platforms. Also, before that, TikToker Adam Benchkroun and his mother were arrested in similar cases related to the publication of inappropriate content, along with other serious accusations.
The two detainees were among the most prominent "TikTokers" who sparked widespread controversy due to videos that a large number of Moroccans considered offensive and contrary to moral values, which prompted a wide segment of public opinion to demand the intervention of the authorities to stop this type of content.
These arrests were widely welcomed by citizens, who considered that the move reflects the authorities' keenness to regulate the digital space and address content that affects public decency and contributes to the spread of triviality and moral degradation, especially among young people.
A number of activists demanded the need to continue monitoring digital content and take legal action against anyone who exploits social platforms to publish indecent or harmful videos to societal values, stressing that protecting public taste has become a proactive necessity in light of the widespread spread of this content.
