HIBAPRESS – Tetouan
Ribera beach in the occupied city of Ceuta witnessed a large security alert this Thursday morning, following the discovery of a suspicious object suspected of being a hand grenade, which necessitated an urgent intervention by the competent authorities and the temporary evacuation of part of the area to protect the safety of citizens and vacationers.
According to the newspaper "El Faro de Ceuta", a retired soldier found the object near the beach, before informing the maritime rescue elements who notified the security services and the explosives disposal unit of the Spanish National Police. Upon receiving the notification, the authorities rushed to cordon off the area and impose a security cordon to prevent visitors from approaching, pending the arrival of explosives experts who began the process of examining the suspicious object and dealing with it in accordance with the approved security procedures. The same source added that the operation ended with the transfer of the body to the police headquarters, after it was found that it did not contain any explosive materials, and things returned to normal and activities on the beach resumed as usual, without recording any injuries or material losses.
