Royal Navy elements managed, this Friday evening, to thwart a drug smuggling operation off the coast of Al Hoceima province, after intercepting a "Phantom" type speed boat loaded with about 60 bundles of drugs, before being taken to the port of Al Hoceima under tight security.
According to the available data, this operation was carried out around seven thirty in the evening, within the framework of intensive maritime surveillance carried out by the competent authorities to combat international drug smuggling networks and illegal immigration off the coast of the region. This operation has mobilized the various security services and the competent authorities in the port of Al Hoceima, where an investigation was opened under the supervision of the concerned authorities to determine the circumstances of the case, reveal the potential extensions of this network, as well as identify the identity of those allegedly involved in the operation. These security interventions are part of the ongoing efforts made by the Royal Navy and various security services to strengthen the monitoring of the coastal strip and address various forms of cross-border organized crime.
