HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Baraka
The entrance to the city of Biougra, in the direction of the Thursday road, near a sorting station, witnessed an unusual incident in the past few hours that caused traffic disruption and a traffic jam. This happened after a woman suffering from mental disorders proceeded to place large stones in the middle of the road, prompting a number of road users to stop and wait until the authorities intervened.
According to available information, the woman wanted to head towards the Ait Amira region, before finding herself unable to afford transportation costs, which led her to obstruct the road under circumstances that surprised drivers and passersby. The Royal Gendarmerie in Biougra quickly intervened, working to remove the stones and restore traffic to normal, while dealing with the woman in a manner that takes her health condition into consideration. The incident revived the discussion about the situation of individuals suffering from mental disorders in the region, and the need to strengthen mechanisms for their social and health care, especially when they are in situations that could endanger them or road users. The incident also highlighted the importance of combining security intervention with a humanitarian dimension in dealing with such cases, to avoid the recurrence of similar incidents.
