HIBAPRESS – Abdel Latif Baraka
The Criminal Appeals Chamber at the Court of Appeal in Agadir has toughened the sentences issued against the members of a network involved in a case related to international drug smuggling via the coasts of the Tiznit province. The sentence for the main accused has been increased from five to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, while the sentence for a second accused rose from four to six years, and for a third from two to four years.
The details of the case go back to a security operation that resulted in the arrest of a number of suspects linked to the network and the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs that were, according to the case file, prepared for smuggling out of Morocco.
The individuals concerned were prosecuted on charges related to possession, transportation, international drug trafficking, and attempted export, before the Court of Appeal decided to intensify the sentences initially issued in this case.
