HIBAPRESS – Abdellatif Barka
Data circulating on social media in the final hours of the election campaign in Taroudant province has sparked widespread controversy, after content containing allegations related to figures involved in the electoral scene was shared.
In the first incident, a video clip was circulated via instant messaging applications, attributed to a leader of a political party, containing intimate scenes. The circumstances of the recording and circulation of the clip, and the extent of its authenticity to the person concerned, remain unclear, pending any official procedures or investigations on the matter.
The second incident concerns serious allegations circulated on social media regarding an individual said to be involved in managing an election campaign, including accusations of a sexual nature related to children.
In the absence of an official statement or judicial investigation results, this data remains circulating allegations that cannot be treated as established facts.
Furthermore, verifying the authenticity of digital content and determining responsibilities, especially in criminal matters, remains within the jurisdiction of the competent authorities, while respecting the presumption of innocence and the rights of all parties.
The circulation of these issues comes at a sensitive electoral juncture, making media handling of them require the highest degree of caution, to avoid transforming unproven allegations into preconceived judgments or using them to influence competitors and voters.
