US President Donald Trump, on Tuesday, called on all member states of the International Criminal Court to withdraw from it immediately, describing it as "out of control."
Trump said, during his speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, that "the United States opposes the out-of-control institution known as the International Criminal Court," calling on member states to "withdraw from this rogue institution immediately," according to Agence France-Presse.
His call comes in the context of an escalating dispute between Washington and the International Criminal Court, as on February 6, 2025, an executive order was signed allowing for financial sanctions and entry restrictions on individuals associated with investigations or prosecutions targeting Americans or citizens of allied countries, including Israel. The administration justified the decision by rejecting what it considers an overreach of the court's authority.
