HIBAPRESS
The manner in which the promotional materials for a number of political organizations in the Berchid province were handled on Monday evening has caused local discontent, after several streets and squares turned into scattered spaces filled with papers following the night-time rounds of election campaigns.
Local sources said that quantities of printed materials were distributed and scattered randomly in a number of places, before being left strewn in the streets and squares without being collected, which led to the spread of papers in public spaces.
The same sources added that this situation was particularly noticeable during the final hours preceding election day, at a time when election campaigns were expected to end without leaving their remnants in the streets.
The scene drew criticism from observers of local affairs, who considered that leaving the printed materials scattered in the public space would increase the burden on sanitation workers, who would be forced to collect additional quantities of paper and clean a number of streets and squares.
