Royal Gendarmerie elements in the city of Essaouira managed a short while ago this Saturday evening to foil an attempt at irregular migration at the level of Imsouane beach.
According to the newspaper's sources, the thwarting of the operation occurred after a sailor from the city of Safi filed a complaint concerning the disappearance of his boat from the port of Safi. Following security coordination between Royal Gendarmerie elements in the cities of Safi and Essaouira, the boat was located at Imsouane beach with 11 individuals on board suspected of irregular migration.
The port of Essaouira witnessed a state of alert among various security agencies, as all individuals were taken to the Royal Gendarmerie center in order to open an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to identify the extent of the network operating in the field of irregular migration.
