Pupils in the first and second primary grades at "Zawiya Sidi Abdel Qadir" school, affiliated with the Ain Al-Zohra group of schools in the Driouch province, are facing the specter of a mini-white year after being deprived of their lessons for the first weeks of the current academic year, amid widespread dissatisfaction among families who are anxiously and worryingly watching the fate of their children.
The educational institution located in the aforementioned village in the Ain Al-Zohra commune suffers from the absence of actual educational activities for this young age group, while their peers across the province are attending classes. This stark disparity portends an widening of the knowledge gap and threatens to shatter the early academic prospects of these young children before they even begin.
This crisis is of utmost seriousness as it strikes at the core of a child's foundational stage, where a student is supposed to lay their first bricks in the path of reading, writing, arithmetic, and building confidence in the school environment. Therefore, any further delay is tantamount to uprooting sound learning and an early preparation for the trap of chronic setbacks.
Voices are rising, demanding the breaking of the wall of silence and the revelation of the true circumstances behind this administrative and educational disruption, with the establishment of a strict timeline for the ringing of the bell signaling the start of studies, and the implementation of a well-defined emergency plan to compensate for the lost academic time without procrastination.
The burden of responsibility today falls on the shoulders of the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports in Driouch to intervene urgently and set matters right, by providing the necessary educational staff and rectifying the harm to the learners, in protection of their constitutional right to fair public education with equal opportunities.
