The National Council of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party has decided to participate in the formation of the upcoming government, authorizing the party's First Secretary, Idris Lachk, to manage the negotiations related to the government participation offer, during its meeting held today, Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the party's national headquarters in Rabat.
The National Council explained, in a statement issued after its meeting, that the decision to participate is based on the party's electoral program, its orientations aimed at achieving fair and equitable development, as well as convergences in values and choices with the Authenticity and Modernity Party, which is leading the consultations for forming the governmental majority, and with the political forces concerned with its construction.
The party affirmed its readiness for a responsible response to the government participation offer presented by the designated head of government, stressing the need to link this participation to clear governmental commitments, which ensure harmony between the agreed-upon program, the government's structure, and the means of implementation and evaluation.
The National Council authorized Idris Lachk to negotiate on behalf of the party regarding the government participation offer, the methodology for forming the government, its nature and structure, as well as presenting the Socialist Union's proposals for assuming governmental responsibilities, based on its members and officials, on the basis of competence, integrity, and the ability to achieve, and in accordance with the constitutional procedures governing appointments.
