HIBAPRESS – Abdelatif Barka
The provinces of Taroudant and Al Haouz, particularly the Asni region and several neighboring road sections, experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong floods. This caused a temporary disruption of traffic on several road segments due to soil erosion and falling rocks and stones onto the roads.
The regional road connecting Asni and Imlil witnessed a sudden rockfall, leading to the accumulation of soil and rocks on the roadside, which obstructed vehicle passage and disrupted movement.
National Road No. 7, connecting Marrakech and Taroudant, also experienced temporary disruptions at the Oued Aghzar Nomzil near Takam village and the Tizgui Talat Nourhal in the Rahha area, affiliated with the municipality of Moulay Brahim, before traffic was restored on these sections.
In light of this situation, regional and local authorities in Taroudant and Al Haouz provinces were mobilized, in coordination with the Royal Gendarmerie, the Asni commune, and the relevant departments. Necessary machinery and equipment were deployed to remove soil and rocks and reopen the affected roads, while working to ensure traffic flow and mitigate the repercussions of these weather fluctuations.
These developments reiterate the need for caution and vigilance when traveling through mountainous routes during periods of thunderstorms, especially in areas prone to floods and rockfalls in Taroudant and Al Haouz, to avoid dangers that may threaten road users.
