The judicial police services in Marrakech, based on precise information provided by the Directorate General of National Territory Surveillance, managed in the early hours of Thursday, October 15th, to thwart an attempt to smuggle drugs and seize one ton and 176 kilograms of cannabis and smuggled tobacco leaves.
This security operation was carried out in the rural area of "Oulad Amer" on the outskirts of El Kalaa des Sraghna, where a utility vehicle loaded with cannabis and smuggled tobacco leaves was seized. The driver abandoned the vehicle in a deserted area following a security pursuit. The search and inspection of the seized vehicle revealed 31 packages of cannabis, weighing a total of 990 kilograms, in addition to 186 kilograms of smuggled tobacco leaves. The judicial police services in Marrakech have opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecution to apprehend the driver of the vehicle used in smuggling the seized drugs, as well as to arrest all individuals involved in the criminal network implicated in this operation.
