HIBAPRESS – Salwa El Rihani
The residents of the Boubana neighborhood, known as the Jebala neighborhood in Tangier, face daily difficulties due to the deteriorating condition of the road and the lack of infrastructure and paving. Stones, mud, and the ruggedness of the path make it difficult to navigate, especially for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
A citizen from the neighborhood reported that the road poses a danger to children going to schools and nurseries in the morning, noting that some of them have tripped and fallen due to the uneven path.
She also confirmed that the situation prevents wheelchair users from moving freely and increases the suffering of groups that require safe and accessible conditions for movement.
With the approach of winter, residents fear the situation will worsen due to rainfall, which increases mud accumulation and makes passage difficult, doubling the residents' daily travel troubles.
The citizen added that demands for a solution to this problem have, according to her, not received the desired response. She clarified that the neighborhood includes a residential subdivision and its residents have their documents, which strengthens their aspiration to benefit from basic infrastructure that ensures them decent living and transportation conditions.
In light of this situation, residents are calling on the concerned authorities to intervene to rehabilitate the road and put an end to their daily suffering, ensuring the safety of pedestrians, especially children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, before the rainy season.
