The “poor quality” of drinking water in Casablanca brings Baraka before Parliament
MP Lubna Saghiri, a member of the parliamentary team of the “Progress and Socialism” Party, questioned Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, on the quality of drinking water in the Greater Casablanca region.
Al-Saghiri pointed out in a written question that the city of Casablanca has recently witnessed a great uproar among residents and social networking sites regarding the emission of unpleasant odors from the water flowing from the taps of houses, in addition to its bitter taste, which is unfit for drinking alcohol, which has caused great discontent among the affected residents. This situation may expose the lives of citizens, men and women, to serious health complications, God forbid.
She added that despite protests by residents over the deterioration in the quality of this vital material, no practical measures or intervention by the authorities concerned has been observed so far to confirm or deny this matter.
The same parliamentarian asked Minister Baraka to intervene urgently, in order to work on sending a scientific committee to determine the state of drinking water, as well as to carry out laboratory analyses to ensure the quality and safety of drinking water in the city.
