Heba Press – Casablanca
Yesterday Friday morning, the governor of the Casablanca-Settat region, accompanied by a committee of the National Company for the Construction and Management of Sports Facilities “Sonargis”, carried out an inspection visit to the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, in order to monitor the progress of the work in progress on site.
According to informed sources, during its meeting following the visit, the commission expressed its satisfaction with the progress of the internal works of the stadium, no comments having been recorded. However, she stressed the need to reconsider the exterior design and remove the added cover.
The commission also called on the company in charge of the works to review the design of the exterior facade of the stadium, with emphasis on respecting the timetable set for the completion of the works in view of the next sporting event that Morocco is preparing to welcome.
The commission recommended quickly developing a new design for the exterior facade so that the stadium would be ready by early 2025.
Rehabilitation work on the Mohammed V Stadium has been underway since Tuesday, November 7, 2023, as part of Morocco’s preparations to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
This work includes the preparation of the VIP zone to CAF and FIFA standards, the rehabilitation of the official stands, the creation of new transport corridors, in addition to the improvement of lighting and the updating of chairs and grass.
The financial cost of this project is estimated at more than 225 million dirhams.
