Moroccan Sahara: The state is committed to stimulating a solid regional economy that generates employment and wealth within the framework of the creation of industrial zones

A partnership agreement relating to the creation of economic activity zones in the provinces of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region was recently signed, in Rabat, by Mr. Ryad Mezzour Minister of Industry and Commerce and Ms. Mbarka Bouaida President of the Regional Council.

This program, which extends over the period 2024-2027, concerns, among other things, the creation of three new economic activity zones in the provinces of Guelmim, Sidi Ifni and Assa Zag and the completion of the economic activity of El Ouatia, and off-site work in the “cactopole” economic activity zone of Asrir, thus marking the desire to improve the territorial attractiveness of the regions and strengthen their economic competitiveness.

Mr. Ryad Mezzour declared on this occasion: “The signing of this agreement constitutes a real catalyst for the industrial development of the region and the strengthening of its territorial attractiveness. the State affirms its commitment to stimulating a solid regional economy that generates employment and wealth, by making reception platforms available to investors under competitive quality and price conditions.”

The three new economic activity zone projects respectively cover an area of ​​100 Ha for the province of Guelmim, including a project to complete work off the cactopole sites, 80 Ha for the commune of Sidi Ifni and 45 Ha for the commune of Assa.

Under this agreement, the MIC undertakes to make a financial contribution of around 200 MDH and to support the implementation of this program in all the necessary steps.

The Regional Council undertakes, for its part, to make a financial contribution of 100 MDH and to ensure in particular the carrying out of positioning, technical and financial studies, the carrying out of on-site and off-site works and the completion of the works subject of the agreement based on the studies carried out and the contracts concluded.

The acquisition of the land necessary to carry out the project is the responsibility of the local authorities who also undertake to provide the necessary support for the implementation of the program.
