Bank Card Piracy: 5 Persons Arrested in Fez

Members of the regional brigade of the judicial police in Fez, based on precise information provided by the services of the General Directorate of National Territory Surveillance, succeeded yesterday, Friday, March 15, in arresting five individuals aged between 18 and 27 suspected of being linked to a criminal network active in the field of cybercrime, particularly in manipulating computer systems for processing bank data, as well as fraud.

The suspects were apprehended during simultaneous security operations conducted in the cities of Meknes and Fez, following investigations prompted by a notification from national security services regarding the detection of the Moroccan banking system to unknown individuals carrying out purchases and commercial transactions using data from foreign bank cards, fraudulently obtained via the internet.

Searches carried out in the homes of the arrested individuals resulted in the seizure of a series of bank card hacking devices, computers, and mobile phones containing digital traces of this criminal activity, as well as receipts from various financial transactions, ranging from the purchase of personal items to car rentals and hotel room bookings, all carried out using the hacked data.

The suspects were placed in custody under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, pending the discovery of all the circumstances of this case, as well as identifying all criminal offenses attributable to the individuals involved.
