The regional coordination of civil society activities in Berrechid has demanded the reform of the defects and imbalances in the health sector in the region, while condemning, in another context, what it called the "repressive approach" in dealing with peaceful protest gatherings that occurred in a number of Moroccan cities.
In a statement, a copy of which was received by the "HIBAPRESS" website, the coordination said that it "is following with great concern what a number of Moroccan youth have been subjected to, of prevention and arrest, during their participation in peaceful gatherings to express their legitimate demands in health and education, which are among the most basic constitutional and human rights." The coordination announced its "full and unconditional solidarity with all detainees and those prevented from their right to peaceful expression," while affirming "adherence to the right of the Moroccan people to good health services and free and quality public education, considering them as two fundamental pillars for social justice and development." The same civil body condemned "the violation of the right to peaceful demonstration guaranteed by the Moroccan constitution and international human rights covenants," demanding "the immediate release of all detainees, and the opening of a serious and responsible dialogue with young people and civil actors to respond to their legitimate demands." The regional coordination of civil society activities in Berrechid held "the responsible authorities fully responsible for any consequences that may arise from these arrests that affect social peace and the trust of citizens in institutions." In another context, the coordination demanded the provision of "a regional hospital in Berrechid with high-quality specifications," in light of the continued "weakness of services and the lack of frameworks and human resources" in the current hospital.
