The Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Appeal in Agadir issued a statement on Thursday evening, revealing the details of the dangerous events that took place in the commune of Oulad Teima on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, on the sidelines of the protests that the area witnessed, which descended into violence and chaos, after individuals tried to seize weapons and ammunition at a Royal Gendarmerie center.
The statement explained that a group of people, mostly minors, gathered with more than 200 individuals armed with white weapons, sticks, and stones, and deliberately destroyed public and private property, including cars and shops, in addition to setting fire to a passenger bus and cutting off the public road. After that, the demonstrators went to the Royal Gendarmerie center in Oulad Teima, where they set fire to the center's offices and inflicted serious material losses on its equipment and facilities, before seizing a four-wheel drive car and five motorcycles belonging to the center and setting them on fire in the middle of the road. The statement confirmed that the gendarmerie elements initially tried to repel the attackers using tear gas and firing warning shots in the air, but attempts at calm failed, especially after eight gendarmerie elements were injured with varying degrees of severity, and the voices of the wives of the elements stationed at the center, who were also attacked, rose. In the face of the attackers' attempt to seize equipment, ammunition, and functional weapons, the Royal Gendarmerie elements, in accordance with legal controls, were forced to use their functional weapons in self-defense and to protect public security and order, an intervention that resulted in the death of three people and the injury of others. The statement indicated that the Public Prosecution has opened an in-depth judicial investigation to reveal the circumstances of these dangerous events and identify the identities of all those involved, while emphasizing its keenness to enable citizens to exercise their right to protest within the framework of the law, while stressing that it will deal firmly and strictly with any violation of the law or infringement of the rights and freedoms of others.
